Tahitzih the Deep Ocean God

Long ago, in a land deep in the ocean lived the Great God of the Sea, Tahitzih. Deep in the ocean there was nothing but Tahitzih and a humongous pile of rock. One day Tahitzih got lonely and started to think of new creatures, like fish, dogs, cats, whales, birds, and even butterflies. Tahitzih then carved these creatures out of the rock with his bare hands.

When Tahitzih got done, months later, he found himself with nothing but lifeless rock sculptures, so he breathed life into then and they started to move around. He noticed that some of his creations, like the fish and the whales, really liked it underwater, but some some of the others, like the cats and the dogs, didn't. Tahitzih started noticing that the creatures that didn't like it underwater were floating to the top, and they would disappear. Tahitzih started to become very curious about where his creations were going so he decided to follow them to the surface.

When he reached the surface he discovered his creations walking on land. Tahitzih got out of the water and started walking around on the land. This land was very dry and Tahitzih didn't like it. So, he gathered some water from the ocean and he threw it on the land, this made the land moist, and caused plants and vegetation, like trees, flowers, and grass to shoot up from the ground. All of a sudden Tahitzih heard hundreds of loud booming noises, he looked up and saw that the trees and tall plants stopped growing, something was stopping them. Tahitzih decided to climb up one of these trees to see what was blocking the plants' growth. Once he got all the way to the top of the tree he realized it was solid rock! So he punched holes in the stone so the trees could get through. The holes that he made enabled Tahitzih to see the sky. The stone that was left over became the clouds. There was one particular piece of stone that was shining so bright that it lit up the whole land, Tahitzih decided to call it the sun.

When the sun went down for the day and the dark of night settled Tahitzih couldn't see anything, for it was too dark. He scattered droplets of water across the night sky to make twinkling stars. He liked the stars but they didn't light up the night sky quite enough. So, Tahitzih took a huge piece of sparkling stone and threw it up into the sky and it became the moon. Now, when you look up into the sky, you can see the sun, the moon, the clouds, and the stars.

One day Tahitzih was again feeling lonely again, the animals kept him company, but he really couldn't do much else but watch them walk around. Tahitzih was watching the animals play one rainy day, and he noticed a beautiful flower sprouting from the ground. He decided that it was way too beautiful to be a flower. So he turned it into a human like him. The flower became a beautiful women, named Talia, that Tahitzih made his wife. Together they had tons of children and created the whole human race. After a while Tahitzih believed all of his work was done, so he returned to the deep ocean with Talia by his side. Now, we all live happily on Earth.
